Solid wood frame in oak Made to measure. Surface transparent lacquered, untreated or oiled, profile cross-section (W/H) 30 x 30 mm, optionally with or without glass (art glass), back panel and passe-partout. This picture frame is available as a customised up to a size of 140 x 290 cm available.

Dimension of the short side (in cm)

Specify the dimension of the short side of the frame.

Please select exactly the size of the short side of the picture frame that corresponds to the short size of your picture (picture size).

When manufacturing the frame, we add 2 mm per side to this dimension.
so that the picture (with glass and back panel) fits easily into the frame.

The picture shows the aluminium frame in section.
When we talk about the frame size, we are referring to the same dimension as the picture size.

Type of back panel

There are 3 possible back panels made of MDF (medium density fibreboard) to choose from:

  1. raw
  2. Coated white on one side
  3. Coated black on one side

A selection can be made according to the following criteria:

If the image carrier (your image) is made of very thin, translucent material, a white
can be used as a back wall. Uncoated (raw) MDF has a brownish colour that shows through the picture.

Do you want the picture not to fill the entire frame and the back wall to remain visible between the frame and the picture? This effect is similar to using a passe-partout. This creates a gap between the picture and the frame. The edge of the picture remains visible. The colour of the back panel should be selected to match the motif.
Up to a size of 80 x 120 cm, a passe-partout board (without cut-out) can be selected as an alternative rear wall colour. There is a wider range of colours to choose from than for the back panels. A raw MDF back panel is sufficient in combination with a passe-partout board as the back panel colour.

The use of visible back panels can also be interesting if a "documentary character" is to be emphasised in the framing. The image/document is presented completely visible without covering the edges of the image.

This type of framing is also useful for pictures that do not have straight or right-angled cut edges or where the edges are frayed and should remain visible (e.g. Egyptian papyrus pictures).

Type of glass

Crilex art glass (polystyrene) > maximum size 100 x 140 cm
is a transparent, lightweight and break-resistant artificial glass. Due to its lightness and unbreakability, it is often recommended instead of glass. It is used in particular for display in rooms open to the public (such as schools, nurseries, hospitals, government offices, etc.). Crilex is available as art glass, glossy on both sides. The thickness of the sheets is 1.8 mm
and anti-reflective on one side. The anti-reflective version has a panel thickness of 1.5 mm. When using, make sure that the roughened side of the glass panel is inserted into the frame so that it is facing outwards, towards the viewer.
The glass is covered with a protective film on the outside. Please remove this before inserting it into the frame or the interchangeable picture holder.
Crilex art glass is available in sizes up to 100 x 140 cm. Acrylic glass can or should be used for frame sizes larger than this and when framing pictures with different thicknesses.

Acrylic glass (Plexiglas) > maximum size 200 x 300 cm
is very break-resistant and weighs considerably less than glass. The material is colour-neutral and has a very good transmission of light, colours and image sharpness and offers almost 100 % UV protection.
Plexiglas can be used for frames up to a size of 200 x 300 cm. The thickness of the sheets on offer is 3 mm. Plexiglas is available as glossy acrylic glass and acrylic glass with anti-reflective coating on one side. The acrylic glass used comes from the renowned manufacturer of the Plexiglas brand and guarantees very good quality for use in picture frames. The manufacturer, Röhm, gives a 30-year long-term guarantee for Plexiglas. Please note that there is a protective film on the outside of the glass, which must be removed when framing.

Type of glass / mirror

Picture frame glass (float glass) > maximum size 40 x 50 cm
is available as normal real glass and anti-reflective real glass. It has the typical properties of glass and is available in a material thickness of 2 mm.
The non-mirrored version is etched on one side, resulting in a slightly roughened surface. The image sharpness, light and colour rendition are slightly limited and result in a somewhat matt colour.
This glass is only offered up to a frame size of 50 x 60 cm due to the risk of breakage during shipping.

Mirror > maximum size 60 x 80 cm
The edges of the 3 mm mirror are unpolished. The mirror can therefore only be used in conjunction with a frame.
Mirrors for in combination with a picture frame can only be offered up to a size of 60 x 80 cm due to the risk of breakage during shipping.
